Catherine (Sugal) Pressley Moore was born to the late Robert and Queen Victoria McRae-Pressley on April 18, 1934. She was the sister of 8 siblings: Hattie, Robert, Alphonso, Lenora, Queen, Elijah, Mary Ann and Thomas. Catherine was mostly known as Sugal. A native of and residing in Avon Park, Catherine had 8 children, Frederick, Horace, Ernest, Reginald, Wendell, Moses, Evelyn and Egeria.
Catherine’s home, located at 1419 South Carolina Avenue was the place we all called home. Her home was the house we would all gather to celebrate holidays, birthdays and long summers. It was all fun and games until it was time for us to mow the lawn. It was at 1419 South Carolina Avenue, where we all learned to cook and clean. When we were told that we were going to 1419 South Carolina Avenue, we would get excited because although the rules were tough and the chores were endless, the love was pure and felt by all who were there. Multiple generations were raised at 1419 South Carolina Avenue. Everyone was family when you walked in doors of 1419 South Carolina Avenue. Whether it was the old house or new house, 1419 South Carolina Avenue will always be HOME.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Moses Moore; one son, Moses Moore, Jr.; grandson, Courtney Moore; parents, Robert and Queen Victoria McRae Pressley; siblings, Robert, Alphonso, Lenora, Queen, Elijah, Mary Ann and Thomas.
