Gary W. Fasig, 83, of Sebring, Florida, and formerly of Robinson, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 10:12 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at AdventHealth in Lake Wales, Florida.
Born on April 2, 1942, in Martinsville, Illinois, Gary was the son of the late Paul and Freda (Pearce) Fasig. As a Vietnam War veteran, Gary served his country with honor and distinction. His commitment was exemplified when he was wounded in combat, earning the prestigious Purple Heart. Following his honorable service, Gary built a long and respected career at the Marathon Oil Refinery in Robinson, Illinois, where he later retired.
On May 14, 2005, Gary married Nancy (Scranton), who survives him. He is also survived by his sons, Timothy Fasig of Van Buren, Ohio, and Michael (Christina) Fasig of McComb, Ohio; his daughter, Mary Jane Lilly of McComb, Ohio; his brother, Richard Fasig of Bloomington, Illinois; his step-daughters, Rhonda (Charlie) Stegall of St. Anne, Illinois; Jennifer (Robert) Pierce of Chatham, Illinois; April (Sean) Sexton of San Antonio, Texas; Valerie (Andy) Elder of Robinson, Illinois; sixteen grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Gary was preceded in death by his former wife, Karla Dee Fasig (2003); his daughter-in-law, Cynthia Fasig (2011); and his stepson, Rodney Waldrop (1995).
A man of deep faith and gentle strength, Gary found joy in life’s simple pleasures—golfing, fishing, and time spent with his beloved family. He was a devoted churchgoer whose love for the Lord guided his life and brought comfort to those around him.
A private burial with military honors will be held at Robinson New Cemetery. Gary will be remembered for his quiet resilience, unwavering faith, and the enduring love he shared with his family and friends.
