Lucy Mae Banks was born on July 17, 1953, in Avon Park, FL, to Ulysee C. Banks and Dorothy Jackson. She spent her childhood in Avon Park before living in New York, Detroit, Cocoa, and Mappsville, VA. Throughout her life, Lucy worked as a housekeeper in the hotel industry, served as a caregiver within her community, and was employed as an installer for General Electric. She was a dedicated member of the Progressive Church of God by Faith, led by Rev. Anderson.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, her son Jeffrey Banks, and her sister Evelyn Thayer. She is survived by her sons, Jerel Banks and Mahdi Banks; her siblings, Leroy "Buster" Anderson (Ethel), Patricia Ann Brown, Curly R. Brown, Jr., and Vicki Brown; her great uncles, L.C. Sumbry (Ernestine) and C.L. Sumbry; twelve loving grandchildren, and two loving great-grandchildren.
