Mr. Willie C. Hardy, Sr., of Avon Park, Florida, passed away on July 18, 2025, in Gainesville, Florida. He was affectionately known as LC. Fun fact: no one is quite sure when or how the nickname "LC" originated.
LC was born in Sylvester, Georgia, on July 5, 1943. He was the son of the late Rosa Lee and Adam Hardy.
After growing up in Sylvester, GA, he relocated to Florida and began working in the automotive field as a mechanic. He worked for Bill Owens Auto Dealership in Avon Park for many years, servicing cars with dedication and skill.
He enjoyed playing checkers under the tree at Leroy’s grocery store. He was a devoted San Francisco 49ers football fan, and when it came to basketball, the Los Angeles Lakers were his team of choice. LC also had a passion for drag racing and was especially fond of MOPAR vehicles, including Jeep, RAM, Dodge, and Chrysler.
LC was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Giles Hardy, in 2021.
He is survived by his sons, Willie C. Hardy, Jr. (Felicia) and Jarvielle Hardy; his sister, Ida Mae Bryant; his grandchildren: Kiyon Hardy, Trezure Hardy, Karisma Grant, Kayden Hardy, Charlie Hardy, Jerome Wooden, Ashley Crawford, and Shanice Crawford; stepchildren; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
